City Council Meeting Updates and Proclamations

Following the City Council regular meeting on February 5, 2026, several official proclamations have been enacted to highlight community wellness and education. In fiscal news, the Council approved an ordinance amending the 2025-2026 Operating Budget to increase appropriations by $510,000 for the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex. This funding is slated to support ongoing operations and facility enhancements for the youth-focused venue.

Public Health Advisory: Seasonal Flu and Allergy Alert

Austin Public Health (APH) continues to urge residents to exercise caution as the region navigates a peak period for seasonal allergies and influenza. Health officials note that flu activity remains a concern through the month of February. Community members who have not yet received their annual flu vaccine are encouraged to visit neighborhood centers or local pharmacies. Infrastructure and Traffic Alerts

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced significant progress on the I-35 Capital Express Central project. Active construction is now focused on the reconstruction of the I-35 bridges over Lady Bird Lake. Residents should be aware of permanent closures at the northbound Riverside Drive exit and the Holly Street entrance and exit. Mobility is currently being maintained via a new Riverside Drive bypass lane and a temporary Holly Street exit.

  • Loop 360: Ongoing excavation and lane sinking at Westlake Drive and Cedar Street continue as part of long-term safety improvements.
