A shift from in-house builds to selling the system

Austin-based construction-technology company ICON has introduced Titan, a multistory robotic 3D-printing system the company is now offering directly to builders and construction firms. The move marks a change in how ICON expects its technology to spread: instead of deploying printers primarily through projects managed by ICON, third parties can purchase and operate the company’s latest wall-printing platform.

ICON says Titan is designed to produce wall systems for roughly $20 per square foot, a figure framed as a significant reduction compared with conventional wall-system costs. The company positions the system as a response to high construction costs and capacity constraints facing U.S. homebuilding.

What Titan is designed to do

Titan is intended for multistory work, with ICON stating the system can print structures up to 27 feet high. That height capability is presented as an advancement over the company’s earlier Vulcan printer platform, which has been used on ICON’s prior housing and structure builds.

The Titan offering is described as a full-stack package rather than a standalone machine. ICON’s commercial model includes the robotic system along with software, architecture and design support, training, and ongoing service. Builders can reserve a Titan unit with a $5,000 deposit. ICON lists a starting price of $899,000 for the unit, with additional costs tied to materials, design services, and annual software fees.

  • Targeted wall-system cost: about $20 per square foot
  • Maximum print height: up to 27 feet
  • Entry price for the unit: starting at $899,000
  • Reservation deposit: $5,000

Existing track record and planned Austin-area deployments

ICON has built a portfolio of printed projects across Central Texas and beyond, and the company has stated it has completed more than 245 homes and structures. In the Austin region, ICON’s prior work has included projects in Mueller, Wimberley, and Georgetown, reflecting a mix of pilot-scale demonstration and neighborhood-scale construction efforts.

ICON has also outlined near-term plans to use Titan on local projects, starting with homes at Community First! Village in northeast Austin. Additional projects cited by the company include a 35-foot-tall 3D-printed church design for a site on Barton Hills Drive and a multistory residential development of more than 60 homes planned for 600 Kemp St.

Timeline and what to watch next

ICON has indicated customer training for Titan is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with first system deliveries targeted for early 2027. For builders, the rollout will test whether the claimed cost and speed gains can be reproduced reliably outside ICON-managed projects, across differing sites, crews, and permitting environments.

ICON has described the program as a way to put its robotics-and-software construction platform into the hands of outside builders, with the goal of improving cost, speed, and consistency in wall construction.
