Police release case details and suspect clothing description

Austin police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect tied to a bank robbery reported in Northwest Austin earlier this week.

The incident is listed under case number 26-0280467. Police reported the robbery occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at about 10:09 a.m. at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union located at 12188 Jollyville Road.

What investigators say happened inside the bank

Police said the suspect entered the credit union armed with a firearm. While inside, the suspect displayed the weapon to employees and demanded money. Police said the suspect left the location after obtaining a large amount of cash.

Authorities have not released a dollar amount taken, and no additional details were provided in the public notice about injuries or arrests connected to the robbery.

Suspect described as heavily disguised

Police described the suspect as a male of average build. Investigators said the suspect was last seen wearing a combination of items that obscured much of the face and body, including a black wig, ski goggles and a black mask.

Police also listed additional clothing items described as a yellow reflective vest, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with reflective stripes along the sides, light-colored gloves and dark shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information that could help identify the suspect to contact the Austin Police Department Robbery Unit at 512-974-5092. Tips can also be provided anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.

What happens next

The request for public assistance indicates investigators are continuing to work to identify the suspect. Police have released images of the person sought as part of the appeal for information.

Anyone who was in the area of 12188 Jollyville Road around the time of the robbery, or who recognizes the described clothing and disguise, is being asked to report what they know to investigators.
