Austin police seek identification of suspect accused of stealing liquor from Twin Liquors in Mueller

Incident reported at East 51st Street store

Austin police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing multiple bottles of liquor from the Twin Liquors store in the Mueller area.

The theft was reported to have occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at about 11 a.m. at Twin Liquors located at 1801 E. 51st St. Police said the man entered the store, selected several bottles, concealed them in his pant legs, and left without attempting to pay. The case number associated with the investigation is 25-9034805.

Suspect description and what investigators say happened

Police described the suspect as a Black male in his early 30s with a medium build. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, Nike Air Flight Huaraches (black/white/pink/teal), and an Oilers cap.

The investigation has been publicized as police seek to confirm the suspect’s identity and determine whether he may be connected to other thefts in the area. No injuries were reported in connection with the Mueller store incident.

Authorities said tips may be provided anonymously through Capital Area Crime Stoppers. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.

Context: retail theft enforcement in Mueller and at Twin Liquors locations

The request for information comes amid heightened attention to shoplifting in the Mueller area. In July 2025, Austin police conducted a targeted “shoplifting blitz” operation in the neighborhood, resulting in multiple arrests at several retail locations, including the H-E-B/Twin Liquors Mueller site at 1801 E. 51st St. Police described that effort as a response to concerns raised by businesses and as part of an ongoing approach to retail theft enforcement.

Separately, Austin police have also issued public requests in 2025 for help identifying suspects in other Twin Liquors-related incidents across the city, including alleged thefts and, in at least one case, a robbery investigation involving an employee injury at a different Twin Liquors location.
